Tenant Participation

The City Council is committed to making tenant participation a reality by actively encouraging and improving tenant involvement and consultation.

Under the Housing Act 1985, councils must give tenants and leaseholders an opportunity to have their say before changes are made to services, policies and programmes. The Council is becoming more answerable to local people and letting them know how decisions are made. In turn, tenant and leaseholders are invited to get involved in housing matters and to tell the Council of their areas of concern.

To make sure that local people are involved in decisions that affect their homes and communities, the City Council has provided a number of different options for tenants and leaseholders to get involved.

If you are interested in getting involved, want more information about groups in your area, or just want to tell us about issues that concern you, give the TP Team a call.

Tenants Survey 2008

Winchester City Council will be carrying out a tenants survey throughout October 2008.

The Government requires all Local authorities in the country, to carry out a survey of its tenants. The City Council's previous survey was carried out in January 2007.

Winchester City Council is keen to hear tenants views and tenants who recieve a form are encouraged to complete and return it. The information will be used to improve services, so the City Council is just as keen to hear about the things tenants don't like as well as the things they do like.

The survey forms will be sent to random addresses to ensure a fair reflection of views. Sample copies of the questionnaires are available to view in the downloads section below.

PLEASE NOTE: The sample questionnaires are solely for the purpose of viewing and should not be filled in and sent to the council. Only forms that are received through the post should be completed and returned.

David Couttie Associates (DCA) are carrying out the survey on behalf of the council and forms will be sent out by and returned to them. DCA will be providing a prepaid envelope in which to return the completed forms.

Tenants who have any quries about the forms can contact DCA on Freephone 0800 169 7865.
