Building Control

Virtual House

Before building, extending, altering or converting part of your building you must make an application for Building Regulation Consent. If you are unsure if you need to make an application please use the Virtual house to provide you with further information.

The Building Control service functions include:

  • Building Regulations
  • Fire safety
  • Pre-application consultation
  • Dangerous structures
  • Demolition

Please note that the Building Control inspection service is restricted to ensuring that Health and Safety requirements are satisfied. Should you wish to have a more extensive supervisory service you are advised to employ a suitably qualified person to carry this out on your behalf.

If you are carrying out work near a neighbouring boundary the Party Wall Act 1996 may apply. Please use the following link to download a copy.

Electronic Applications - The Green Option.

If you wish to submit your application electronically please use the link below.

Submit-a-Plan enables anyone, with access to the web, to submit Building Control applications to Local Authorities across the country free of charge. It is the green option compared to printing and will help to reduce your carbon footprint.
