Applying for Housing
The City Council works in partnership with other local agencies to try to meet the need for affordable housing in the Winchester district.
Accommodation for Rent
We work directly with 4 local housing associations:
- A2 Winchester
- Swaythling Housing Society
- Hyde Housing associations
- Hampshire Voluntary Housing Society
Together we maintain a Joint Housing Register of households requiring acommodation in the district. This enables households, through a single application, to be considered for a much wider variety of accommodation and helps all the parties make best use of thier housing stock.
Low Cost Home Ownership
- Properties to Part Buy
The City Council also works with local housing providers to develop various Low Cost Home Ownership schemes. The aim of these is to help households onto the housing ladder through shared equity or part rent part by schemes which the Council cannot directly provide itself.
- Assistance for Key Workers to Obtain Housing
The Key Worker housing scheme is also run within the district by one of our partners, providing assistance for those in essential public sector jobs to obtain housing.
Garage Rental
As well as dwelling accommodation we also have a number of garages available thoughout the district for rent.
