Education has a vital part to play in achieving sustainability. This has been acknowledged nationally with the growing emphasis on sustainability in the National Curriculum.

Schools already undertake many varied activities which tackle sustainability and quality of life issues. If you have a project or activity that you are proud of, we'd love to hear about it so please contact us.

Winchester City Council is interested in working with schools in the district on sustainability issues. Please contact us If you would like to discuss ways in which the City Council can help with education for sustainability.

Winchester City Council is proud to have been involved in the Hampshire Solar Car Challenge in 2002, 2003 and 2004. The Challenge involved primary school pupils designing and building a model solar car to race against other schools in a district heat. The winners from each district in the county competed against each other to become the Hampshire Champion. Click on the link below for more details.
