Winchester City Council has teamed up with East Hampshire District Council to share environmental services across both areas, saving more than £2 million in the process.

The new contract begins on Monday 3 October and will see Biffa Waste Service collecting your bins.

New Bin Collection Days

Biffa have re-arranged the collection rounds to make them more efficient, economic and environmentally friendly but this means many resident have a new bin collection day. You should have received a new collection calendar informing you of your new day and your collection details for the next 12 months so please keep it safe.

Bin Collection Recovery Plan

The start of the new bin rounds caused problems for some residents across East Hampshire and Winchester Districts, and plans are in place to sort this out as soon as possible. The recovery plan has been put in place to ensure that the majority of previously missed bins will be collected as soon as possible. Extra crews have been out which demonstrates the level of commitment from Biffa to put this situation right. Priority is being given to residents who have been waiting the longest for a collection.

Our advice to households is as follows:

  • Please report any missed collections immediately using the online form at www.working-together.org.uk or by telephoning 0300 300 0013
  • If your bin is missed please ensure it is left out for collection to allow the contractor to revisit.
  • Double check your calendar to ensure you put the right bin out on the right collection day.
  • Once you have reported a problem there is no need to contact us again. Collection crews will have your details and will empty the bin as soon as practicable.
Anyone needing a calendar can download one for their area via www.working-together.org.uk
