Community development in West of Waterlooville
Mark Maitland is the Community Worker for the West of Waterlooville development. He works two days per week at the moment, but this will increase to full time as the development increases in size. The post is paid for by the developers as part of the planning conditions.
The key objectives of the Community Worker are as follows:
- To facilitate the creation of a cohesive community that is integrated with the existing community that adjoins it.
- To facilitate the active involvement of all sectors of the community in sustainable community activity and encourage sustainable lifestyles.
- To enable the community to develop experience, skills and knowledge, to strengthen their capacity to make improvements to the quality of life of their community and the local environment
There is a regular community newsletter that gives updates on Mark's work, information on community events and activities and reports on progress with the overall development. The newsletter can be downloaded at the foot of the page.
