Allotments in Winchester

An allotment provides the opportunity for fresh air and exercise for those interested in growing fruit, vegetables and flowers and is also a great way to relieve stress. It could supply you with a constant supply of fruit and vegetables throughout the year and provides an opportunity to meet like-minded individuals.

The City Council is responsible for three allotments sites within the city at Trussell Close, Greenhill Road and Princes Place.

Trussell Close

Has 7 plots which vary in size from 125 to 250 square metres. The rental cost for these plots varies from £16.22 to £23.18 per year. The current occupancy rate is 100% and a waiting list has been started.

Greenhill Road

Has eight plots which vary in size from 116 to 133 square metres. The rental cost for each allotment is either £10.82 or £12.35 per year. The current occupancy rate is 100% and there is water available on site and a waiting list has been started.

Princes Place

Has nine plots which vary in size from 48 to 106 square metres. The rental cost for these plots varies from £4.32 to £9.54 per year. The current occupancy rate is 100% and a waiting list has been started.

There are other allotments in the area, which are managed by various groups:

St Cross Allotments

76 plots, which vary in size from 20 to 260 square metres. It is currently fully occupied. There is no water available on site. For more information contact:Terry Gould on 01962 860 768.

Park Road

233 plots, varying in size from 50 to 250 square metres. The rental cost for each allotment is 16 pence per square metre. It is currently fully occupied, with a waiting list of about 25. There is water available on site.

Stanmore

There are a number of sites in Stanmore including Cromwell Road West, Paulet Place North, Paulet Place South, Kingsley Place, Lisle Court and The Valley Site. Plots vary in size from 50 - 250 square metres. The rental cost for each allotment is 16 pence per square metre. It is currently fully occupied, with a waiting list of about 10 and most sites have water.
