Winchester Action on Climate Change
Winchester Action on Climate Change (WinACC) was formed in Autumn 2007 as a coalition of organisations and citizens with the principal aim to encourage, persuade and advise all households and public, private and voluntary organisations in Winchester district to reduce their carbon footprints.
In pursuing this aim WinACC will:
- Promote the many benefits of low carbon living;
- Work with and through existing networks and partnerships to set the highest possible standards in communicating about climate change; in particular it will work with the City and County Councils and the Winchester District Strategic Partnership to help achieve their climate change objectives;
- Act as a focal point for information about climate change and advice on measuring, monitoring and reducing carbon footprints;
- Initiate and support action groups trying to achieve these aims
- Make the achievement of all the aims as satisfying and enjoyable as possible.
All are welcome to participate. Open meetings are held on the first Saturday of alternate months, with an opportunity to discuss progress and get involved with the action groups.
Winchester City Council is a founder member and core funder of the WinACC group. WinACC will take forward action in the Climate Change Plan, particularly working towards the community involvement outcome.
