May 2009  -  Winchester District Strategic Partnership Newsletter

In response to your feedback, we have changed the format of the WDSP newsletter to include more information about what's been happening and WDSP meetings, as well as our usual news round up. We hope you like the new style. Please email Antonia Perkins - aperkins@winchester.gov.uk - if you have any suggestions on what you would like to see in the next newsletter.

Improving our Communication
Satellite dishOne of the main recommendations from the IDeA's LSP peer review that took place last year was a need for better communication with all those involved in the partnership. As a result over the next few months we will be working to raise awareness of the partnership and its vision. During this time there will be focus groups, questions and consultations to discover how we can best communicate what we are all about and keep everyone up to date with what we are doing.
We would like to involve you in these changes and would find it really helpful if you could share with us your thoughts in a short survey we have created. We will be sending the link to the survey in an email following this newsletter and we would really appreciate it if you could take a few moments to complete it and tell us your views and ideas on how to best communicate with you about the partnership.

Look out for changes to the website and further communication opportunities coming soon!

SOGs - name change
During the March meeting of the Executive group it was decided that the strategic outcome groups (SOGs) would now be known simply as groups. This change will be reflected on the website soon.

Annual report
ReportsEach year, the Chair of the WDSP submits an annual report to the City Council's main committee scrutinising its work. The report sets out the achievements of the WDSP over the past year, as well as some of its challenges. You can read the report here.

Alcohol Exclusion Zone Review
The Winchester Community Safety Partnership (CSP) is currently undertaking a review of the city-wide Alcohol Exclusion Zone (AEZ).
The AEZ was launched in July 2005 and extended in June 2007. The CSP is now asking residents and local businesses for their views on the zone as part of a review of the scheme.
The CSP analyst, Lorraine Ireland, said: "In order for us to gather the opinions of residents, local businesses and partners, we have set up an online survey which is available for anyone to complete".

Roundup
Partnership round up

Full Board
27 February 2009

It was agreed that the Full Board should be replaced by an Annual Conference to promote the work of the WDSP. Speakers would be invited to address the Conference on various themes and there would be the opportunity for each of the Group Chairs to report back on the work of the Group over the year. An Annual Conference would also enable a wider audience to participate, for example Town and Parish Council representatives. There would be the opportunity for participants to make an input on the day and thought would also be given to the timing of the Conference in order that highest attendance was achieved.
