Census 2011
All systems go - the first census forms are being sent out on Monday 07 March and will be dropping through people's letterboxes in a distinctive purple and white envelope from Tuesday 8 March onwards. You can complete your questionnaire as soon as you receive it, but the answers that you give should be about your household on Census day - Sunday 27 March.
Why do we need a Census?
Government and local authorities depend on our information to make sure you get the services you need in your community. And that means asking questions. The ONS want everyone to take part in helping tomorrow take shape; this is your chance to make a difference.
What you need to do
You will be sent (posted or hand-delivered) a pack containing a list of questions that the ONS would like you and the rest of your household to answer. For most of the questions all you will need to do is tick the box that applies to you or write your answer in the box provided. You can complete and submit the form online or you can fill it in by hand and post it.
