The Deputy Mayor

The role of Deputy Mayor was first introduced in Winchester at the end of the 19th Century.

Deputy Mayor and Mayoress for 2009-2010 are Cllr Richard Izard and his wife, Elaine. The Deputy Mayor stands in for the Mayor should he or she be unavailable. In the following year it is tradition for the Deputy Mayor to be elected Mayor.
