The Current Mayor ~ The 810th Mayor of Winchester is Cllr Dominic Hiscock.

Cllr Dominic Hiscock was appointed as the new Mayor of Winchester at a Mayor Making Ceremony at Winchester Guildhall on Wednesday 20th May 2009 - his wife, Caroline, will serve as the Mayoress.

Cllr Hiscock and his wife officially took over the role from Cllr Michael Read and his wife, Jan, to become the 810th Mayor of Winchester; the second oldest Mayoralty in England.

Cllr Hiscock has represented the Ward of St. Bartholomew on Winchester City Council for the last ten years, having moved to Winchester twenty-seven years ago.

During his term as Mayor, Cllr Hiscock's chosen charities will be the Trinity Centre and Emmaus Hampshire.

Cllr Hiscock said: "I am looking forward to using my time as Mayor to visit the people who live and work in our District. It is a beautiful part of England. However, it is the people in our communities that make it such a fantastic place to live".

The new Deputy Mayor and Deputy Mayoress this year will be Cllr Richard Izard and his wife, Elaine.

About the new Mayor

Dominic is married to Caroline, a Consultant Radiologist in Southampton, and they have three sons - all at local schools.

The family share a passion for Rugby and Football, and are active members of Winchester Rugby Club, which has one of the most successful Mini, Junior, and Youth sections in Hampshire.

Cllr Hiscock has previously held the City Council's Portfolio for Housing; a subject that still interests him. Indeed, homelessness is the theme behind his chosen charities for the year.

He has also sat as a governor for St. Bede's Primary School for eleven years; the last five years being spent as Chairman.

Dominic is a Trustee of The English Project, which celebrates and encourages the use of the English Language as a world wide tongue.
