Social Issues Scrutiny Panel

What does it do

The Panel constitutes an overview and scrutiny committee in terms of the Local Government Act 2000 and holds to account the Portfoilo Holder for Housing and the Portfolio Holder for Communities and Safety. In summary, this Panel will scrutinise the following functions:-

- Housing both generally and in relation to the activities of the Housing Revenue Account
- Community Safety
- Community Development (other than related to sport)
- Social Inclusion, including where relevant, benefits administration
- Health Improvement
- Overview of certain health activities, including joint health initiatives with Hampshire County Council and/or other bodies in the Statutory Health Sector or the Voluntary Sector
- Administration of Grants
- To act as the Crime and Disorder Committee for the purposes of Section 19 of the Police and Justice Act 2006 and associated regulations
