Winchester Workplace Walks Initiative
The Winchester Workplace Walks Initiative aims to support workers in Winchester to 'fit a walk into work' as part of an overall goal of achieving the recommended healthy guidelines of at least 30 minutes of moderate intensity physical activity on 5 or more days of the week.
Two sets of 'walk packs' are now available (for the Romsey Road and City Centre). Employees at Hampshire County Council, Winchester City Council, Denplan, Winchester Community Prison and the Royal Hampshire County Hospital can obtain a pack free from various outlets (see 'How to obtain a copy' link).
Everyone who works in Winchester can purchase the packs individually for £1.00 each at the Winchester Tourist & Information Office (next to the Guildhall) and at the Mottisfont Court Information centre (High Street).
The packs contain a selection of short walk routes designed to be done during a lunch break. The packs also includes information on personal safety and safe walking tips, a 10,000 a day step challenge and suggestions on how to add more steps to your working day.
More information about the steps challenge and walking to work will be available online shortly - please visit again soon!
