Carbon Reduction Grants
Grants of up to £500 are available from this new funding stream which is aimed at projects that help to:
1. Promote/support Carbon reduction initiatives - including feasibility studies; promotion of carbon reduction within the community; and installation of renewable energy or energy efficiency measures.
2. Support carbon reduction and/or recycling champions.
Applications for Carbon Reduction grants will only be accepted from one of the following:
- Parish or Town Councils
- Not-for-profit, community groups. These applications must be supported by endorsement from the parish / town council (or Winchester Town Forum in the case of communities within the town area).
Examples of the types of projects that are likely to be funded through this scheme include:
1. Installation of cavity wall or roof insulation in a community building
2. Research into the feasibility of installing solar panels on a community building
3. Cost of venue for group discussions on carbon reduction
This scheme is now open for applications for grant awards in 2008-2009 and the closing dates for applications are as follows:
- 25th June, 2008 for any activities/projects taking place after 6th August, 2008
- 24th September, 2008 for any activities/projects taking place after 5th November, 2008
- 7th January, 2009 for any activities/projects taking place after 18th February, 2009
All activities and projects must be completed within six months of the date of approval.
