Keep up-to-date with all the news from the site via the West of Waterlooville blog. Updated frequently by Jacky Wilson the West of Waterlooville Implementation Officer, the blog presents an opportunity to take a more in depth look at how the development is progressing.
A new community is proposed at West of Waterlooville, the development area is situated within the south-east extremity of the Winchester District adjoining Waterlooville, which is within the administrative area of Havant Borough Council. The majority of the development area is within Winchester District, but a small part is within Havant Borough. Winchester City Council and Havant Borough Council are therefore working in partnership to plan for the new community.
Two outline planning applications were approved by both local planning authorities in early 2008.
Developers Taylor (UK) Ltd have outline approval for the site at Old Park Farm, south of Hambledon Road in Waterlooville to provide:
• 450 new homes,
• 24 live/work units,
• 7.29 hectares of employment land,
• provision for retail, food and drink, financial/professional and health,
• areas set aside for recreation and open space
• the construction of two new accesses from Hambledon Road.
They also have approval for Phase 1 of their development consisting of 450 residential units.
Grainger Trust Plc have outline approval for the site at Plant Farm to provide:
• 1550 dwellings
• the provision of 12.5 hectares of employment land (including B1, B2 and B8),
• 85 live/work units,
• mixed use land including 7.19 hectares of commercial uses, land for primary school, a local centre, land for allotments, land for a cemetery, open space, recreation and play areas,
• construction of three vehicular access points to the public highway at Maurepas Way, London Road and Milk Lane,
• associated infrastructure including a vehicular link to Old Park Farm.
Grainger has not progressed its scheme for commercial reasons but is working on a new master plan which should form the basis of an application in the middle of 2010, this will include the planned extension of the MDA to a total of 3,000 homes.
