IMPORTANT - YOU MUST READ BELOW:
A Temporary Event Notice will need to be given in writing to the Council and the Police, and this must be received at the Council Offices and Police Station NO LATER THAN 10 CLEAR WORKING DAYS BEFORE THE DAY THE EVENT IS DUE TO START. This does not include the day it is received or the day of the event.
Section 193 of the Act defines "working day" as any day other than a Saturday, a Sunday, Christmas Day, Good Friday, or a day which is a bank holiday under the Banking and Financial Dealings Act 1971 in England and Wales. "Ten working days" means ten working days exclusive of the day on which the event is to start, and exclusive of the day on which the notice is given.
Longer notice will be advantageous, especially in the case of some defect in the notice or objection by the Police. Any notices received after that period will not be valid and any licensable activities carried on would be unlawful.
Please ensure that you attach enough postage to the envelope. Some letters are held by the post office for unpaid deficient postage and may be delivered too late for the TEN to be valid. An A4 envelope is classed as a Large Letter and should carry the appropriate postage.
The notice must be accompanied by a fee of £21, all cheques made payable to Winchester City Council. Two copies must be sent with the fee to:
