Evening Economy
Second Purple Flag for a 'better night out' in Winchester
For the second year running Winchester has been awarded 'Purple Flag' status in recognition that it offers visitors an entertaining and safe night out.
Winchester City Council has developed a framework to boost the evening economy of the city centre. There is a recognised lull in activity between 5pm and 8pm, after workers leave for home and before others arrive to enjoy an evening out. Filling that gap will not only boost the economy of the city centre, but will give it a new lease of life.
A framework for making these changes has been developed and can be viewed from the bottom of this page.
This project fits well with the Business Improvement District (BID) in the city centre. To find out more about the "First Thursdays", organised by the Winchester BID, please visit their website. For more details email amy.mccartan@winchesterbid.co.uk
