· providing an additional £9,000 worth of floral displays
· purchased and distributed 150 new high specification radios for Shopwatch and PubWatch members resulting in increased crime detection rates
· sponsoring three additional PCSOs (Police Community Support Officers), doubling the existing provision
· sponsoring local festivals and events
· local marketing campaigns highlighting the shopping and services sector
· producing 30,000 retail maps for visitors to the city
· offering funding to assist in the creation and installation of a sculptural feature for Parchment Street
· ongoing work to install footfall counting cameras across the city centre, used to measure the 'health' of the city's commercial core.
· extended Christmas lighting displays through out the city centre
These projects are in response to the views of local businesses gathered at consultation events in 2006 and 2007. Businesses then voted to support a BID in the city centre for a five year period.
Details of the ballot result can be found below together with the Business Plan Proposal.
