Economic Development
NEW! Winchester's economic strategy 2010-2020 is now available for consultation! Download the document below, and please give us your feedback. To help you structure your views, please answer the following consultation questions;
a) The Vision - Do you feel that the vision is appropriate and powerful enough to drive the development of the economy of the District over the next ten years?
b) Themes and Trends - Do you feel that there are any important themes or trends not represented or not adequately addressed?
c) Strategic Objectives - Are you able to support the key outcomes, or would you like to suggest others that you believe to be more appropriate to the development of prosperous economy in the Winchester District?
d) Action Plan - Can you propose any different or additional actions in support of the outcomes, particularly actions on which you, your business or your organisation can take a lead?
d) Measuring Progress - Efforts have been taken to ensure that most of the actions listed are 'SMART' (specific, measurable, achievable, realistic and timed). Other indicators have been given to help build an overall 'direction of travel' for delivery of the strategy. Can you suggest any other meaningful and cost-effective ways of measuring progress?

Each year, Winchester City Council consults with the local business community about how best to allocate its budget. This year, businesses attended a meeting on 27th January, and heard from Cllr Freddie Allgood and Cllr George Beckett. A useful discussion also took place about budgets and the Council's economic development work. The presentation from the event can be downloaded at the bottom of this page.
