Building Control Fees

The Building (Local Authority Charges) Regulations 2010 Regulations came into effect on 1st April 2010 replacing the Building (Local Authority Charges) Regulations 1998 (SI 1998/3129)(the 1998 Regulations). They authorise Local Authorities in England and Wales to fix and recover charges for the performance of their main building control functions relating to building regulations in a charging scheme governed by principles laid down in the Regulations.

Please note that that standard charges have been assessed on the basis that the building work does not consist of, or include, innovative or high risk construction techniques and the duration of the building work from commencment to completion does not exceed 12 months. They have also been set on the basis that the design and the building work is undertaken by a person or company that is competent to carry out the relevant work and that the Approved Documents have been used as guidance in achieving compliance with the Building Regulations.

Any charges that are not standard are individually assessed subject to certain criteria. If you feel that your application falls into this category please complete the "yellow" boxes only on the "Individual Assessment Charge" document below.
