What if I get a War Pension?

If you get a War Disablement Pension or War Widow's/Widower's Pension or Guaranteed Income Payment paid by the Armed Forces and Reserve Forces Compensation Scheme, we will disregard the whole amount of this income when calculating how much Housing/Council Tax Benefit you are entitled to.
But you must still enter the amount you get on your application form, and provide the relevant proof.

If your War Disablement Pension or War Widow's/Widower's Pension includes an amount for attendance or mobility we will need to see proof of this, as it may mean you are entitled to extra Housing/Council Tax Benefit.

Compensation payments to victims of atrocities during World War 2
If you have received one or more of the compensation payments made by the German Government to people who worked as slave's and forced labourers under the Nazi regime during World War 2, the amount of the compensation payments will not be taken into account as savings/capital when your Housing/Council Tax Benefit is calculated.

But you must enter the full amount of capital on your application form, and provide proof of the compensation.

Special payments to Far Eastern Prisoners of War and widows/widowers of Far Eastern Prisoners of War.
If you have received one or more of the special payments of £10,000 made by The Government to people who were imprisoned or interned by the Japanese during World War 2, the first £10,000 of your savings/capital will not be taken into account. If you received two of these payments because, for example you were interned as a civilian and are also a widow of a Far Eastern prisoner of war, the first £20,000 will be disregarded for Housing and Council Tax Benefit purposes

But you must enter the full amount of capital on your application form, and provide proof of the special payment.
